Emily grew up in Maryland, then attended college at the University of Oklahoma where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. After staying in Oklahoma for a couple years after graduation, she was accepted into Teach for America and began her teaching career in Indianapolis, IN in 2013. During her first two years of teaching in Indianapolis, Emily also obtained her Master’s degree in teaching. Since her parents had relocated to Colorado, when her TFA commitment ended in Indianapolis, Emily decided to move to Colorado. She began working at Academy 360 as a 4th grade teacher in 2015. Emily continued to work as a teacher and leader for Academy 360 until moving to Austin in 2018. Emily served as a 5th grade science teacher in Austin and held a few leadership positions at her school. Emily is returned to Academy 360 because of her belief in the school, its mission and values, and the staff culture.
