A Day in the Life

Our instructional philosophy at Academy 360 is to educate whole children — mind, body, & character — through a vibrant, standards-based, data-driven, and compelling curriculum.  View our video to see our students in action and how Academy 360 educates students’ minds, bodies, and characters.

In 2015-2016, student hours for Kindergarten through 5th graders will be Mondays through Thursdays 8:00am-3:30pm; and Fridays 8:00am-1:30pm.

ECE hours for Mondays through Thursdays are 8am-3pm; and Fridays 8am-1:30pm.

In order to support our teachers’ as lifelong learners seeking to continuously improve their instruction, Academy 360 has early release on Fridays.

Sample Day in the Life of Eva, a 1st Grader

7:50am – Drop-Off : Students enter the school from the drop-off loop, greet Principal Eric and shake his hand, wash their hands, and sit down to eat a free, healthy breakfast.

8:00am – School Day Starts for ECE – 5th grade

8:10am – Morning Message & Morning Movement: Eva wakes up her mind, body and character with the whole school daily routine.

8:30am – Healthy Start: Eva joins her Crew for a community building morning circle driven by the Random Acts of Kindness and Peace Circles social-emotional curriculum, embedded character instruction.

9:00am – Reading & Writing: Eva builds strong literacy foundations through engaging read-alouds, Guided Reading and Reading Mastery groups differentiated by reading level, literacy centers, and Lucy Calkins writing workshop.

11:10am – Recess: Eva engages in guided play outside facilitated by Coach Becca.

11:40am – Lunch: Eva selects from a healthy menu focused on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

12:10pm – Math: Eva builds her understanding of numbers, equations, and problem-solving through the Eureka Math curriculum. Eva’s peers and she discover and present multiple methods for problem solving rigorous, real-world math problems.

1:40pm – Physical Education: Eva helps moves her body to help grow her mind through interactive, developmentally appropriate fitness including yoga, sports, dance and more.

2:15pm – Expedition: Along with her Crew, Eva participates in standards-driven discovery as part of the ‘How Does Our Garden Grow’ expeditions. This project-based unit integrates science, literacy, social studies, math and health and wellness.

3:15pm – Closing Circle: Eva debriefs the day in community circle with her Crew.

3:30pm – School Day Ends: Eva goes home to spend time with her family — she plays, shares what she has learned, and reads for at least 20 minutes per day.
