Special Education, Gifted & Talented

Special Education

Students entering Academy 360 with an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) from the Special Education department of their previous school or program will be provided services as defined in the IEP until their next annual or tri-annual review. Academy 360 will comply with all Federal, State and District regulations for the administration of IEPs.

Students determined to need Special Education evaluation through the MTSS process will be administered a battery of assessments over a period of 6 weeks. At the end of this period, a meeting will be held with parents or guardians, teachers and special education personnel to decide on and potentially craft an IEP for the student.

Gifted & Talented

All students will be screened using the Naglieri Non-Verbal Abilities Test in Kindergarten and 2nd grades. This assessment is a culturally neutral test of student skills and abilities regardless of student primary language.

Additionally, those students identified by teachers or parents as potentially highly-able will also be assessed using this screening tool.

Students determined to be normed in the top 10% of their age bracket nationally will be evaluated based on a body of evidence provided by teachers and parents to determine the need for advanced learning interventions.

Students identified as Gifted will meet with the School Intervention Team to establish an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) that will define the opportunities and expectations for the student. Academy 360 will comply with all Federal, State and District regulations for the administration of ALPs.
