Annelise Nugent
Board President
Annelise Nugent is a leader in the Early Childhood community. She has experience coaching programs to achieve greater quality within their classrooms and supporting teachers in finding the value of having fun with their students. She was the Education Director at Family Star Montessori for 8 years. She has over 12 years of experience in early childhood. Her education includes a BA in Social Work from Colorado State University, a Masters in nonprofit Management from Regis University and a coaching certificate from CU At Denver. She is a native of Colorado, growing up in Estes Park. She enjoys being around children and watching them grow to their fullest potential through a high quality, whole child education.
Leslie Bayliff
Board Volunteer
Leslie has served on the Board of Academy 360 since its founding year; she is now a volunteer for the board. She has been a corporate attorney in Colorado for over 30 years. She brings a breadth of experience in law and business development, having taken businesses through formation, financings, IPOs, mergers and acquisitions and the full range of commercial contracts. She started her legal career as an associate at Davis, Graham & Stubbs, served as in-house counsel for Jones Intercable, StorageTek, Corporate Express, BCM and Qwest, and is currently Corporate Counsel at Global Healthcare Exchange. Leslie received her JD from University of Virginia, Order of the Coif (top 10%), and BS from Virginia Tech, with distinction. Leslie puts her passion for education to work by volunteering to improve education options for all students. Prior to joining the A360 Board, Leslie served as PTSA Secretary and an A+ Angels Mentor for East High School.
John Schlichting
Board Treasurer
John is Vice President of Sales for Welltok, a Denver based health optimization software company. John has been involved in the Colorado charter school community for over 12 years. He is a founding board member of NorthStar Academy Charter School (K-8) in Douglas County. He is also involved with SkyView Academy Charter School (pre-12) as a board member, founder and currently serves as the president of the SVA building corporation. Additionally, he served under appoints by the last three governors as a board member for the Colorado Department of Education’s Charter School Institute. John received his BS and MBA from San Jose State University and lived in San Francisco before moving to Denver in 2003. He is a single father to two wonderful teenagers: John and Emma. In his spare time, John enjoys woodworking, playing golf and finding the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants.
Leslie L. Juniel
Board Member
Leslie is a native of Colorado. She is passionate about making positive contributions to the community. She is part of a large family whose history and legacy are deeply rooted in the Denver community, and she knows she has an obligation to leave the world a better place than how she found it.
Leslie is a Senior Program Manager of Equity Initiatives on the Culture, Equity, and Leadership team in Denver Public Schools. She currently leads the implementation of the African-American Equity Task Force recommendations and all equity initiatives. Prior to this role, Leslie was Manager of Training and Employee Development on the same team. Leslie is an alumna of Denver Public Schools and is proud to represent five generations of DPS attendees and graduates!
Leslie has also worked for INROADS, Inc., the Rocky Mountain News, YouthBiz, Inc., Girls Incorporated of Metro Denver, Girl Scouts Mile High Council, and the Colorado Marrow Donor Program at Bonfils Blood Center. Leslie participates in many community programs and events. She is an alumna of INROADS, Inc., the African-American Leadership Institute, Leadership Denver and Future Black Women Leaders of Colorado, Center for Progressive Leadership, and is past president of the Foundation for the Next Frontier. Leslie led the ‘re-birth’ of the annual Juneteenth Celebrations in Denver from 2008-2011. She previously sat on the board of directors of Colorado High School Charter and the Colorado Black Women for Political Action. She has two grandchildren who currently attend Academy 360.
Dan Schaller
Board Member
Dan is currently the President of the Colorado League of Charter Schools. He previously served as the League’s Director of Governmental Affairs, in which role he worked with charter schools and partners from across the state to develop and execute the League’s annual legislative agenda. He regularly advocates for high-quality charter public schools at the district, state and federal level.
Prior to joining the League, Schaller worked for the Denver Preschool Program helping to provide preschool tuition assistance to 4-year-old children across Denver. Before that, he spent 5 years as a social studies teacher at Denver’s highly successful Arrupe Jesuit High School. He has a B.A. in Political Science from St. Louis University, a Master’s in Secondary Education from Regis University, and a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Denver.
As a founding board member at Academy 360, Schaller was drawn to the school because of its unique focus on the whole child and wanting to provide a high-quality educational alternative to the young children of Montbello. He remains committed to the school’s mission of providing students with a well-rounded education that will develop their minds, bodies and characters.
Diane Stelling
Board Member
Diane recently retired from the profession of physical therapy, working in acute rehabilitation and home care settings. For over 40 years her primary caseload was geriatric, and she is happy to now be on the board of Academy 360 focusing on children. She believes in the school’s vision of developing students’ minds, bodies, and characters and forming strong relationships with families and community. She has 3 children of her own and recently moved to Colorado with her husband. The mountains of Colorado have been a favorite vacation spot most summers since her childhood and she now calls it home.
