Our Food Policy

As part of our overall health and wellness strategy, Academy 360 is committed to serving healthy meals to children. This includes serving plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free and low-fat milk, and limiting unhealthy foods and snacks.

Our meal program is designed to improve the diet and health of students, while fighting childhood obesity, modeling healthy eating habits and supporting healthy choices. We have some policies in place to support healthy eating:

  • Water: To promote hydration, free, safe and unflavored drinking water will always be available to students, and students are encouraged to carry water bottles with them throughout the day.
  • Sugar-sweetened drinks: Outside of the School Breakfast Program, no sugar-sweetened beverages, including Gatorade, are allowed at Academy 360.
  • Competitive foods: All foods served to students during the school day should support healthy eating. Foods sold outside of the school meal programs must meet USDA Smart Snacks in School nutrition standards
  • Celebrations and rewards: Snacks and foods brought in by families or provided by the school as part of a celebration must meet the USDA Smart Snacks in School nutrition standards. Academy 360 does not allow food as a reward for behavior or academic performance.
  • Fundraising: Foods and beverages sold as part of a fundraiser must meet the USDA Smart Snacks in School nutrition standards. Consider non-food items to raise money, such as a fun run.

The A360 Grocery Store

Academy 360, in partnership with Denver Food Rescue, hosts a weekly no-cost grocery store for our families and the community.  Each week the store receives 600-1000 pounds of fresh food to give away.

Grab your bags and come shopping at the school every Thursday at 3:30 p.m. outside by the playground!
