A Day in the Life

A glimpse into what it’s like for students each day.


Our instructional philosophy at Academy 360 is to educate whole children — mind, body and character — through a vibrant, standards-based, data-driven, and compelling curriculum. Learn more about our daily schedules: 

Lower Elementary Daily Schedule

8:00 to 8:20 a.m.
Drop-Off & Breakfast

Students enter the school from the drop-off loop, greet school leaders, offer their teachers a handshake, high-five, or hug; then sanitize their hands, and sit down to eat a free, healthy breakfast in their classrooms. 

8:20 a.m.
Morning Circle & Social Emotional Learning

Students join Crew for a community building morning circle driven by the Random Acts of Kindness, Positive Discipline, and Little Justice Leaders curricula, all of these offer social-emotional and character instruction and skill building. 

8:45 to 11:00 a.m.
Reading & Writing

Students build strong literacy foundations through the EL Modules, engaging read-alouds, and small data driven literacy groups differentiated by students needs. 

11:00 a.m.
Recess

Students engage in unstructured play in the physical activity spaces; research shows if students play before they go to lunch, they will focus on their food and eat more!

11:30 a.m.
Lunch

Students choose a protein- and grain-rich main lunch and have their choice of at least two fruits and two vegetables from the daily salad bar. When it is time to clean up, students participate in our zero waste program by composting uneaten food and recycling materials from her lunch that can be recycled.

Math

Students build their understanding of numbers, equations, and problem-solving through the Engage NY curriculum. They discover and present multiple methods for problem solving rigorous, real-world math problems.

1:15 p.m.
Physical Education

Students help move their body to help grow her mind through interactive, developmentally appropriate physical activities for both her gross motor and team-building skills.

2:15 p.m.
English Language Development & Literacy Intervention

Identified multilingual learners (MLLs) receive dedicated English Language Development (ELD) using EL Achieve Curriculum, to support reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English. Non MLL students receive data-driven intervention in a small group individualized setting.

3:15 p.m.
Snack, Choice Time & COB (clean-up, organize, and backpacks)

Students help their peers prepare the classroom for the next day of learning and get ready for dismissal.

3:30 p.m.
School Day Ends

Students go home to spend time with their family — they play, share what they learned, and read for at least 20 minutes per day.

Upper Elementary Daily Schedule

8:00 to 8:30 a.m.
Drop-Off & Breakfast

Students enter the school from the drop-off loop, walk up to their homeroom, greet their teacher, then sit down to eat a free, healthy breakfast.

8:30 to 9:15 a.m.
English Language Development & Intervention

Identified multilingual learners (MLLs) receive dedicated English Language Development (ELD) using EL Achieve Curriculum, to support reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English. Non MLL students receive data-driven intervention in a small group individualized setting.

60-minute block
Reading

All students in K-5th grade receive a rigorous reading block with whole group instruction stemming from EL Modules. Students also receive small group instruction that is either phonics based or novel studies. In reading, students also use the online platforms of iStation, Freckle, and Accelerated Reader.

Math

All students in 3rd-5th grade engage in a whole group math block that includes the Engage NY/Eureka Math curriculum. Based on student need, small groups are also used to increase engagement and reteach lessons if need be. In math, students also use the online learning platforms of iStation, Zearn, and Freckle.

Writing

All students in 3rd-5th grade receive a writing block in which they work on improving writing skills through language conventions, increasing knowledge of synonyms and vocabulary, narrative writing, opinion writing, and research.  

Noon-1:30 p.m.
Recess, Lunch, and PE


Recess: Students engage in unstructured play in the physical activity spaces.

Lunch: Students choose a protein and grain-rich main lunch and have their choice of at least two fruits and two vegetables from the daily salad bar.

Physical Education: Students move their body to help grow their mind through interactive, developmentally appropriate physical activities for both gross motor and team-building skills.

Choice Time & COB (clean-up, organize, and backpacks)

Students help prepare the classroom for the next day of learning, receive choice time, and get ready for dismissal.

3:24 p.m.
School Day Ends


Students go home to spend time with their family — they play, share what they learned, eat a healthy snack, and complete their homework.
